HOW DO I JOIN WISHMAKERS AT UIUC?

Anyone is welcome to join at anytime they would like! All you need to do is attend a meeting or contact us about joining. There is a membership fee of $5 a year and must complete membership requirements in order to be considered an active member. We would like our members to attend as many meetings as possible because it allows us to get creative feedback and different insights. Bring friends to participate in our events with you!

WHEN ARE THE MEETINGS?

Due to Covid-19, there will be a few restrictions. We are hoping to have in person meeting for those who feel comfortable coming while also having an option of join meetings remotely. In person meeting location and time are still to be determined.

HOW WILL YOU BE DOING FUNDRAISERS WITH COVID-19?

This is a tough situation for everyone right now therefore we will be doing many online fundraisers and will continue to do restaurant fundraisers as well. There might be a few fundraisers that we can do in person but there will be limitations. To stay updated on our event subscribe to out email.

WHAT KINDS OF EVENTS HAVE YOU DONE IN THE PAST?

We have done a variety of events in the past. We are always trying to do something new and expand our involvement. We have done bake sales, selling pizza on Green Street, Volleyball Tournaments, Joe's Brewery Fundraiser, Trivia Night at Murphy's and our annual Walk for Wishes. 
We also try to do different social events like go to club dinners, we were in the Champaign County Parade of Lights, and trip to the pumpkin patch.
We are looking to get more involved in our community by volunteering for different service events such as hosting a blood drive, volunteering at agencies around the area, and participating in other groups’ fundraisers.

WHY DOES WISHMAKERS HAVE TO RAISE $5,000 TO ADOPT A WISH?

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® is completely reliant on donations and because of this, in order to grant kids their wishes, they need to fund all parts of the wish so that the family will not have to worry about expenses. The average cost of a wish is $5,000 which is why our goal is to raise $5,000 at a time in order to sponsor a wish of a child in the Champaign-Urbana area. Wishes can range from a trip to Disney World to building a new and improved room to accommodating the child to a shopping spree. The kids get to wish for anything and we get to help make that wish come true!
